BOO!

New pintrest craft!!

I wanted to do a fun Halloween craft so I found this cute sign on pintrest!

First I started with all the supplies: wooden letters, scrapbook paper, mod podge, ribbon, and stickers (all relatively cheap & I had a store coupon = awesome!)

Trace the letters on the paper & cut out

Mod podge paper onto letters & add embellishments (ribbon, stickers, etc.)

Hang!

I love the way it turned out and it's totally customizable so you could do more for other holidays! (which I plan on!)

What's your favorite part of Halloween? Have you done a Halloween craft?

I will be posting a list of recent deals for mommies in the next few days so check for it!

Nacho Mac n' Cheese!

So, I'm late on Tasty Thursday (Thank you work for calling me in on my day off!) but I just made this and it was seriously fantastic! A must try!

Actual recipe can be found here: http://www.lifesambrosia.com/2011/07/nacho-mac-n-cheese-recipe.html

But here is a (very) quick run through of the steps!

"You will need:
  • 2 cups dried elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 jalapenos, diced
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups grated medium cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated jack cheese
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 avocados, pit and skin removed, diced"
1. Boil the water and cook the pasta!

2. Drain pasta and in same pot melt 1/2 the butter, stir in onions and jalapenos

3. Return pasta to pot and stir in milk, eggs, cheeses, salt, cumin, & chili powder

4. Cook for 10-15 mins for sauce to thicken, stirring (do not boil!) Remove from heat and let stand 5 mins

5. EAT! :-)

Fall Wreath

I decided to try out a new craft (with being a little leery on what it would turn out like) and I ended up deciding I liked the result! I went to Joann Fabrics (Did you know not only can you use an e-mail coupon, newspaper coupon, and mailed coupon at the same time but they will also accept competitors coupons on crafting items??) Anyway, I got tulle in all sorts of fall colors, a little embellishment, and a foam ring. I was attempting to recreate this:

I started with all of my supplies (Zoey wanted to help!):

Cut strips of tulle and tied them to the foam ring:

Added the embellishment:

And continued to tie until I was left with this!:

Then I tried to cut the strips relatively evenly:

So what do you think? Have you tried a new craft lately?

Photography Challenge!

Hello! Hiatus while I was out of town this weekend! So, this is going to sound horrible, especially for a newlywed but with all the baby news lately it is seriously killinggg me to wait! I just have to keep telling myself that there are things I want to do first. I have this whole idea that I at least need to wait till after next summer and I really know it’s the right thing to do. So there is my little random rant!

Anyway, I started this photography challenge (I know I’m really late so here’s my recap of the first ten or so days!)

Day 1: Self-Portrait

Day 2: What you wore today (So I didn’t take this picture but I totally helped set it up…lol)

Day 3: Clouds (Very tricky with numerous cloudless days in a row!)

Day 4: Something green (Party popper from the surprise party over the weekend!)

Day 5: High angle

Day 6: Low angle

Day 7: Fruit

Day 8: A bad Habit (Shopping! And couponing! I LOVEEE Shopping!)

Day 9: Someone you love

Day 10: A Childhood Memory (Difficult considering I'm not all the way moved in yet but I settled on blocks and one time when I was a kid we were at Universal Studios in Florida and we ended up all dressed up in their mardi gras parade on a float and throwing beads at people! Fun fun!)

Day 11: Something Blue

There! I am hopefully all caught up now! :] I need to seriously figure out how to get better at this whole blogging thing! Bed time! Excited to show you my new craft project tomorrow!

Happy Fall!

$2 off a Digiorno frozen pizza! Just need to like and take the ditch delivery pledge in order to print!

http://www.facebook.com/digiorno?sk=app_224404187614137

Last Wednesday I decided to use up some of my funfetti to make mini cupcakes and I attempted to make apples and pumpkins! The apples turned out better but here are some pictures! (colored frosting, pretzel stems, sprinkles, and green tootsie rolls for the leaves!)

*Okay, totally thought I had some pictures of the pumpkin ones but they must have gotten eaten before I could take one!!

The next time I try it I am going to try this apple pie cupcake recipe for the apples!
http://alpineberry.blogspot.com/2007/10/apple-pie-cupcake.html

So I'm thinking of doing a 30 day photography challenge but I've already lost quite a few days. Who knows. I am kind of blah tonight so I'm off to bed.

Good night! <3

Soup!

I love watching the Doctors. Today they had a very large debate about introducing your children to fast food. Look, Scott and I think being healthy is a great way to go. We take daily vitamins, we try to buy the lesser fat products, but let’s be honest, we can’t cook all the time. This is America and we know that we are all busy. What is wrong with the drive through every once in a while? Introduce it to them now and let them know that every so often it is ok. You’re not going to die from eating something terrible once a month. Ok, onto our recipe for the day!

Scott and I made creamy crock-pot tortellini soup yesterday! The recipe is super easy so here we go!

http://www.bhg.com/recipe/soups/creamy-tortellini-soup/

Ingredients:
  • 1 1.8-ounce envelope white sauce mix
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 14-ounce can vegetable broth
  • 1-1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 7- to 8-ounce package dried cheese tortellini (about 2 cups)
  • 1 12-ounce can evaporated milk
  • 6 cups fresh baby spinach leaves or torn spinach
  • Ground black pepper (optional)
  • Finely shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)
Steps:

1. Place dry white sauce mix in a 3-1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker. Gradually add the water to the white sauce mix, stirring until smooth. Stir in broth, mushrooms, onion, garlic, basil, salt, oregano, and cayenne pepper.

2. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours or on high-heat setting for 2-1/2 to 3 hours.

3. Stir in dried tortellini. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 1 hour more or high-heat setting for 45 minutes more.

4. Stir in evaporated milk and fresh spinach. If desired, sprinkle individual servings with black pepper and Parmesan cheese. Makes 4 servings.

Sorry, I didn't have time to take the best pictures! It turned out fantastic and we both loved it. We didn't add the mushrooms but I'm sure we could have substituted something for them if we really wanted to. For the record, it would go perfect with a panini!

Have you tried out a new recipe lately?? Did you like it? Also, how do you feel about kids and fast food??

Good night <3
