Baby Dies During Breastfeeding Due to Mothers Negligence and Intoxication

I’m going to try not to rip this woman apart no matter how much I'd like to. I am also going to try not to rip the commenter who calls herself Tori apart no matter how much I would like to.

I’m going to simply say my heart aches for her and her little one. I’m not quite sure why anyone who knew they would be drinking or are drinking would think they could care for their infant. Congrats to her for breastfeeding. However, please have someone else watch over your precious baby while you are unable.

As for you Tori, how dare you think we are talking poorly on this woman because she is a single black mother. That is not the point of this article. The point is a precious babe is gone because of the ignorance of the mother. Also. You do not know her or her situation so who are you to talk if she is poor/rich/single/married/etc.? If that is the case you should not be drinking. You should be caring for your child(ren) and trying for the life of you to better your life and theirs. If you're stressed I am pretty sure there are some better options out there. Oh there is also a thing called self control. Maybe if your kid is around you should only have one of those drinks. YOU ARE AN ADULT. YOU ARE A PARENT. BE RESPONSIBLE. I'm sorry Tori but the poverty and race card that you would love this article to focus on is not the point.

Also. The title isn't all that misleading if you read it correctly. The baby did die during breastfeeding. The mother passed out while breastfeeding. It doesn't say the baby died from the breast milk or from the feeding, just during. It makes me mad that that is what you have to nit pick on this article for.

Breastfeeding Mother Charged with Contempt

I read this news article the other day and I am so very very torn on the subject. I’m sure I’ll get flamed for whatever I have to say but I can honestly see both sides of this story. It’s hard when your baby is breastfed and a difficult child. I get that. I have gone through a time when she didn’t want the bottle. She would scream and put up a fight. 

But listen. If your child is under 6 months old then yes, fine, by all means, they are suggesting waiting on introducing solids, you should be able to get out of jury duty. However, in this case, your child is 7 months old. Therefore said child should be able to (and should!) be having some sort of solids. So you are telling me they can’t have some solids in between you nursing before going in, during breaks, and after jury duty? You are just being lazy. It’s your civil duty as a citizen. You are also telling me that you have NO ONE who is willing to help you out for a day and watch your little one? Maybe I am just blessed by people around me but it seems a little farfetched to me that there is no one available to help you out for a day. I’m sure someone would love spending time with your little one. You were already pardoned once so just bite the bullet this time. It seems like a whole lot of excuses going on here.

I’m not sure why this aggravates me quite as much as it does but arg. Also, I’m sure I don’t know all the details. There could be a very understandable explanation but as of right now, I really just don’t get it.
